netgear neotv Netgear announces NeoTV 350 HD and NeoTV 550 Ultimate HD Media Players

Netgear is back again this time around with their NeoTV 350 HD and NeoTV 550 Ultimate HD Media Players which will form part of the flagship products in the NETGEAR AV Series. What makes these groundbreaking NeoTV HD Media Players special would be their ability to handle digital videos, photos, or music straight onto one’s HDTV, regardless of whether the media is stored locally, on the home network, or the Internet. The AV Series comprises of easy-to-use products to help consumers hook up their Internet-ready devices such as HDTVs, Blu-ray players, IPTV set-top boxes, media players and game consoles to the Internet and home network.

The NeoTV 350 HD and NeoTV 550 Ultimate HD Media Players will hit the US market later this fall, and both models are able to handle full HD video (that’s 1080p just in case you were wondering), Dolby Digital and DTS surround sound support as well. As for the NeoTV 550, it comes with an additional E-SATA port for faster transfer speeds, Blu-ray disc support through an external drive as well as advanced metadata tagging that allows one to browse through cover art. As for additional NeoTV features, they are a built-in memory card slot for instant photo slideshows on the TV, DLNA/UPnP connectivity for access to media servers, network share connectivity and an optional wireless connection with the AV Series NETGEAR Universal Wi-Fi Internet Adapter.

The NeoTV 350 HD Media Player retail for Euro 129.99 when it hits that part of the world this fall, while our friends Down Under will have to fork out AUD$189.99. What about the NeoTV 550, you ask? It will hit North America for $219.99, Europe for Euro 199.99 and Australia for AUD$299.99. Have you upgraded your home network to include Netgear’s devices yet, or are you still waiting to make a move?

Sonic Nausea device could induce puke

sonic nausea Sonic Nausea device could induce pukeWe’re not too sure what something like the Sonic Nausea device is doing in the open market – shouldn’t stuff like this be banned? After all, the rather deadly combination of high frequency soundwaves that will result in the majority of people who hear it to feel queasy or suffer from headaches, intense irritation, sweating, imbalance, nausea and vomiting sounds (pun intended) as though it belongs to the military or riot police and not in the hands of pranksters. To make matters worse, the nature of its sound makes it all the harder to track down if the device is hidden. Perhaps the 9V battery which it is connected to will be able to provide enough juice to run for hours on end – making it the ideal tool to have everyone in the immediate office feel sick to call it quits for the day. This $29 device could be a practical joke pushed too far, don’t you think?

Lampshade made out of shades

aviator lamp 3 Lampshade made out of shades

What better way to block the light than a whole lot of sunglasses?  Particularly a bunch of shiny aviator sunglasses.  If you have a thing for aviator sunglasses, but just can’t seem to pull them off well, then you could always pick up this lampshade and at least make your lamp look incredibly cool.

Surprisingly this lamp managed to fit 40 pairs of mirrored aviator sunglasses.  Purchasing 40 pairs of those sunglasses alone would cost a whole lot of cash.  I am a little shocked that the Celebrity Lamp doesn’t cost a whole lot more money than it does.  I thought that it would cost an insane amount and it does cost a bit.  However it could be a whole lot worse.  Considering the look of this fancy lamp $160 isn’t all that catastrophic.

RYNO is one wheeled Segway, again

ryno electric scooter 300x225 RYNO is one wheeled Segway, againFor some reason reason, there has been an excess of one wheeled vehicles like the Honda U3-X, the PUMA by GM and Segway, as well as the eniCycle.

So, why should I report on the RYNO? Well, you can see from the video here that, from the back, this looks just like someone who is riding a motorcycle.

Seriously, if I was behind a person riding the RYNO on the freeway, I would probably just think: “oh, it is a guy (or girl) on a motorcycle”. Then if he or she were to turn a corner, I probably would say: “hey, that thing has just one wheel!”

As it turns out, Ancient Greek and Roman statues were in color after all

500x brinkmannstatues2big 300x222 As it turns out, Ancient Greek and Roman statues were in color after allEvery once in a while, science proves that our ideas that we have about ancient cultures are wrong.

After all, every film that I have seen about Ancient Rome, whether it be Gladiator or Ben-Hur, shows that the civilization was filled with white buildings and statues that were devoid of color.

Sure, it shows how dictatorial and powerful the Romans were, but in reality, all those buildings and statues were painted up in bright colors. All of those centuries of wind, sun, and sand strip the colors away like bleach.

Deer Whistle keeps deer from denting your bumper

deerwhistle Deer Whistle keeps deer from denting your bumper

There were several years that I would swear that my car was emitting some sort of deer mating call that brought every deer in the county to stand directly in front of my car.  I’ve had to swerve through a full herd of deer more than once.  If I had one of these Deer Whistles attached to my car I might have stood a chance against the numerous deer that have crossed my path, particularly since this is supposed to ward them off.

As long as you’re going faster than 35 MPH it’ll create a sound that cause deer, elk, moose and antelope to freeze in their tracks.  We’ll just hope that they aren’t already standing in the road when they hear it.  The small whistle just attaches to your grill or under your bumper.  I have no idea how well it’ll work, but it’s cheap enough to give it a try.  Plus, if you live in a rural area it’s doubtful that it’ll make matters any worse.  You can pick one up for $7.98 through Things You Never Knew Existed.
