Jellyfish Inspired Chorded Keyboard

JellyfishInspiredKeyboardKeyset2 Jellyfish Inspired Chorded Keyboard

Do you think that chorded keyboards (or keysets), are one-handed input devices that allow folks to type characters with key combinations, are ugly and boring? Well, designer Erik Campbell decided to refresh the chorded keyboard’s design, and looked to a jellyfish for inspiration, and came up with the design above. It might look like a classy USB hub at a glance, but rest assured, you’re still able to update your Facebook status with this.

Extremely vague accelerometer patent was filed back in 2006

motion control patent Extremely vague accelerometer patent was filed back in 2006

If this super vague accelerometer patent which was filed by Durham Logistics back in 2006 was pursued by the company to sue a slew of other manufacturers who have an accelerometer in their device, then they could probably end up as very rich since this patent applies just about to the use of any accelerometer in virtually all computing devices. Its “Method and apparatus for controlling a computer system” basically means the use of a motion detection sensor in changing the state or implementing functionality in a device, which would cover just about all smartphones worldwide with a handful of laptops as well. We wonder what Apple has to say about this concerning their lawsuit with HTC – a case of hypocrisy?

htc hd2 wifi HTC HD2 purchase gives you free inflight Wi Fi

Aircell has teamed up with HTC to offer frequent fliers in North America a tempting offer – a purchase of the HTC HD2 allows you to hook up to Aircell’s in-flight Wi-Fi service for free for the next half year, where this service normally costs approximately $13 per flight. This promotion begins today to commemorate the launch of the handset. With more and more travelers using a Wi-Fi connection to keep them entertained instead of being subject to the same old re-runs of movies, this is one slick marketing move which lasts till June 30, next year.

HP HQ gets Manifold motorized art installation

hp video wall HP HQ gets Manifold motorized art installation

Folks who drop by the HP headquarters at Palo Alto will be delighted to stumble upon a motorized art installation known as “Manifold,” where it comprises of a half video wall and a half room divider. The divider section seems to be a 60-foot, wavy blue wall of fiberglass, but when it spins around, it ought to take your breath away as your eyes greet an unusually large high definition display, which was constructed by a studio known as Tronic. Definitely not something worth having in your home since you can’t afford one anyways.

slyvania Sylvania Blu ray Disc Player going for $59.99

Forget about the Sony PS3 being the most affordable Blu-ray player in the market – if you happen to scour Amazon, the Sylvania Blu-ray Disc Player breaks all records with its $59.99 price tag. Considering this has some pretty decent reviews, it is surely madness to turn it away at such a low price point – unless you want to get some gaming thrown into the mix of course, which is where the Sony PS3 comes in.

iPhone, Safari, IE8 and Firefox fail security test

cansecwest iPhone, Safari, IE8 and Firefox fail security test

A non-jailbroken iPhone, Safari running on Snow Leopard and Internet Explorer 8 and Firefox on Windows 7 were no match for security analysts at the annual Pwn2Own contest at the CanSecWest security show, where none of them stood up to the test, having being hacked and fully compromised without even having physical access to the machine. This just goes to show how “secure” your machine is, no matter which platform you’re on, if it is the target of the right hacker. Makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, eh?

Ventev EcoCHARGE Aims To Reduce Vampire Power Draw

eco charge Ventev EcoCHARGE Aims To Reduce Vampire Power Draw

It looks like AT&T’s Zero Charger is in for some competition, as Ventev has unveiled its EcoCHARGE, which is also a green charger that aims to help reduce the vampire draw of adapters that are left plugged in. The EcoCHARGE decided that the best way to trump the competition is that it could offer to charge two devices at one go by offering a mini USB port, as well as a full-sized USB port at the top. The EcoCHARGE is currently available for $29.99 and an iPod/iPhone version will be available in April 2010.

Press release.
