KNEX Corkscrew Coaster
There is nothing quite like the exhilirating feeling of sitting through a roller coaster ride as your adrenaline rushes all over the place to provide you with literal as well as figurative highs. Well, you might not be able to reproduce said feeling with the KNEX Corkscrew Coaster, but you can certainly have fun watching the tiny car zoom and zip around the track as you imagine just how you would feel if you were sitting in a life-sized model. This 337 piece building set allows your imagination to come up with your very own corkscrew coaster ride, and at just £24.95 a pop, it ain’t too expensive to bring one set home either. You will be able to build it up to a maximum height of 1.75 feet, where the motorized Corkscrew Coaster will be able to bring the car up, down and round its awesome track. Its motor runs off a couple of AA batteries though, so you might want to get some rechargeables to keep it going without adding more trash to the environment.

Ferrowatch relies on magnetic principles to tell time

Telling the time has gotten a whole lot more complex than before as it no longer requires a simple glance at your wrist any more. Tokyoflash, long time purveyors of complex timepieces that are hard to tell, have come up with the Ferrowatch that holds a magnetically sensitive liquid (known as Ferrofluid) which is located under the glass face. A magnetic charge will attract the fluid to different positions within the watch, resulting in the indication of hours and minutes. Needless to say, telling the time then is as simple as can be, but the method used to arrive at such a state is impressive to say the least. Some people might prefer to have illumination within, but we think that this would make a great timepiece to impress the chicks.

Toshiba’s ApriPoco
Toshiba has some interesting projects going on with televisions and computers, and this particular one is a robot that looks more like a side project, really.
It is called the ApriPoco, and I’m not sure what the translates to. If you ask me, it sounds like Acapulco, which I’ve heard is a very nice place to go. Okay, I’m clearly getting off-topic.
Anyway, this 8.4 inch tall robot is apparently an interesting universal remote control. In fact, there is a video of it after the jump, and you can see the lady speaking to the robot to make it do things.
That is, I think that this is what is happening. The video is a little sketchy as it is in a language that I do not know, but you can watch the ApriPoco’s beady little eyes (which have cameras on them) as it takes commands from its master. Or, in the video’s case, the mistress. Note how the display behind them switches to a different image on command.
For some reason, the video shows furniture that seems to move on command from its user. Is this Toshiba’s way of showing how they intend to give customers control over their entire place?

Golden Robot USB Drive looks familiar…

It’s funny how you can see something and it just so strongly reminds you of something else you’ve seen before, like this very subtle Golden Robot USB Drive that I just can’t seem to put my finger on. Every time I glance at it I just hear this annoying voice yammering off a bunch of ridiculous survival statistics. It’s just the strangest reaction. Clearly this robot is nothing more than a gold robot and that’s it.
Alright, so it’s obvious they were just trying to dodge having to give George Lucas some royalties by not coming out and calling this robot C-3PO. What’s odd is that this is actually a little nicer than some of the C-3PO toys I’ve spotted. By just skipping out on the facial features it makes this one look a little more well made. A lot of times if you don’t think you can do something right, by just skipping that entirely it makes things look a whole lot less cheesy. You can pick up the 4GB USB drive for $25 through Gadget4all.

Bed of Nails Relaxation Mat
Want to be some sort of mystic practitioner? Then get the Bed of Nails Relaxation Mat which supposedly helps you release inner tension while lower stress levels and hitting a sense of high in your personal well-being. Wait a minute, you say, aren’t nails really sharp and painful to lie on? Not really, it is in fact, completely painless and is touted to offer virtues in aiding relaxation, relieving you of your back and muscle pain while increasing energy levels. Oh yeah, good thing the mat itself is made out of styrofoam and plastic instead of the old school wood and iron nails. There are two versions available, one with a neck-only pillow and one without, retailing for £19.99 and £39.99, respectively. You will probably feel a strange sensation for the first few minutes, but once you’ve gotten used to it, chances are you would want to lie down longer than initially thought.
