German court dismisses second Samsung patent suit against Apple

A single week after dismissing Samsung’s initial German patent infringement lawsuit against Apple, a German court has also rejected a second suit, reports Florian Mueller of FOSS Patents. Judge Andreas Voss of Germany’s Mannheim Regional Court on Friday addressed Samsung’s argument that specific 3G and UMTS technology in Apple’s iPhones infringes the South Korean company’s patents. The Judge dismissed these claims early Friday morning, even so he did not quickly offer an explanation for his choice. Mueller, who attended the pronouncement, says the outcome of Samsung’s suit may possibly be based on the validity of the specific patent in question, in which case Samsung could nonetheless prevail in any of its 3 other 3G/UMTS-associated patent complaints it filed against Apple in Mannheim. Samsung originally brought 5 suits against Apple in Germany, claiming Apple’s mobile devices infringe various 3G/UMTS wireless standards patents it holds.

‘Samsunged’ TV commercial pokes Apple fan boys
Even though Samsung and Apple share a symbiotic relationship, the Korean giant is getting bit of a enjoyable by poking Apple fans with their most current Tv commercial called ‘Samsunged.’ The Television advertisement also jokes about how the next iPhone looks like the current one, which is really true for practically each and every iPhone iteration. From 3G we had 3GS and lately we saw the four-4S transition. With the Super Bowl around the corner, this cruel teasing is going to improve manifold. The officials also conceded on record that this was an exciting opportunity to educate masses about Galaxy S II being the most preferred smartphone as of these days.

iPad 3 will reportedly have LTE, Retina Display, quad-core A6

You can expect the iPad 3 leaks to come in a steady stream from now until March. Inside the last couple of weeks, we’ve heard that it will have an upgraded camera, be slightly thicker, and, of course, tote a Retina display. Now but one more source is adding its voice to the choir, with a report that supposedly confirms numerous of the particulars we’ve heard currently (and adding a couple of its own).
The report says that Foxconn and company are growing volume of the iPad three this month, and will hit full volumes in February, with a release scheduled for March. It will supposedly be packing a quad-core chip (Apple’s A6 SoC), a Retina display (most likely 2048×1536 resolution), and will supply 4G LTE wireless compatibility.
Although we’ve heard all of this from various sources before, the LTE detail is the greatest news here. We would all be shocked if Apple didn’t double the resolution in the iPad 3. Nobody would be taken aback by a quad-core A6 either. Everyone also has March circled on their calendars as the month of the announcement and release. LTE, however, would be a logical addition to that list. As the iPad’s battery can manage the wireless tech greater than the iPhone, it would be a intelligent choice to introduce Apple’s client to LTE with the iPad three.
If the iPad three is sold in an LTE-compatible model, it will be interesting to see how Sprint handles that. The carrier is not expected to roll-out its initial LTE cities till later this year. Would Apple authorize a Sprint iPad that would operate only on 3G until the network is available — then enjoy LTE speeds once it’s accessible? As lengthy as it doesn’t call for a mail-in upgrade (as with the “what not to do” manual known as the Motorla Xoom launch), it sounds like a feasible strategy.
Like it or not, these iPad 3 leaks and rumors are going to keep coming at a steady pace. Luckily, as opposed to the iPhone rumors from last year, these are fairly consistent and combine to form a clear picture.
AT&T confirms PS Vita 3G data plan pricing

The PS Vita is set to launch in the U.S. next month in both Wi-Fi-only and 3G versions. If you opt for the 3G Vita then you will require to sign up with AT&T for a data strategy as it has secured exclusive rights to supply such plans. What we didn’t know officially till these days was how much those plans would expense.
As expected, AT&T has decided to offer you two information plans for PS Vita owners. The 1st will cost $ 14.99 a month and limits you to 250MB of information. The only other alternative is a $ 25 program with a 2GB limit. The very good news is AT&T is not going to tie you to a extended-term contract. Each these plans are month-to-month, meaning you can try 1 out and then cancel the subscription if you just don’t like it or require it. Alternatively, you can just sign up for a month of information every so frequently.
The bonus of getting the 3G version of the Vita is you will always be connected. Sony does have a number of services for you to take benefit of, such as PSN access for digital games downloads, location-based apps permitting you to discover other Vita owners close to to you, multiplayer gaming on the go, and the ability to collect in-game items only accessible when visiting a particular actual-world location. There’s also Live Region which links to PSN and delivers gaming news and updates, and all the typical web services you’d expect will be accessible (Facebook, Flickr, Twitter, etc.).
Investing in PS Vita even with out the information plan is going to be very high-priced. The Wi-Fi versions costs $ 249.99, and if you want 3G capabilities anticipate to spend $ 299.99. On top rated of that you will need to have a proprietary SD card for saves costing between $ 29.99 and $ 199.99 (and one each if you want to share a PS Vita across various PSN accounts), and then you have to acquire the games.
Due to poor sales in Japan retailers have already dropped the value of the PS Vita 3G by as a lot as 20%. It is unlikely the very same factor will happen just before the US launch, but if you do want the 3G version it might be worth waiting a month following launch just before getting. We could see an additional massive value drop just like we got with the 3DS.
PSP outsells PS Vita in Japan

The PS Vita has been available in Japan since December 17, but in only its second week on sale, Sony’s previous generation handheld, the PSP, is outselling it. Not only that, but the 3DS, Wii, and PS3 also sold more units in the run up to Christmas.
A drop off in sales the weekend of Christmas is only natural, but it’s the size of the drop that may have Sony a little bit worried. Where as the launch weekend saw the PS Vita shift 324,859 units, between December 19-25 it only sold 72,479–that’s lower than the 101,121 units the PSP sold for the same period. As a sales drop off comparison, the 3DS shifted 482,200 units during the PS Vita launch week and then only dropped to 357,691 sales last week.
The reason for the huge drop? Most likely a combination of price and a lack of new games. The PS Vita is the most expensive of the four handhelds on the market right now (3DS, PSP, DS and Vita) with only the more hardcore/early adopter crowd willing to pay for the new hardware. Sony’s new device also didn’t see any new games released post launch, which helps to explain why no PS Vita games featured in the top 20 last week, either.
It’s unlikely this situation will stay the same for long. Nintendo had a similar slump following the release of the 3DS due to a lack of new titles. However, now that games such as Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D Land, and Monster Hunter 3G have launched, hardware sales are way up. The PS Vita needs a similar rush of popular games, with Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, and Monster Hunter game releases needed. Hopefully they will all arrive next year.
