Google Nexus 7 tablet with quad-core Tegra 3 outed by benchmarks
Only a week ago, Nvidia promised that $ 199 tablets running the company’s Kai platform were coming soon. Now, it looks like the Google Nexus 7 may be one of the very first.
It has been spotted in benchmarks running a quad-core Tegra 3 processor over on the Rightware Power Board web site, and a handful of option specs have been revealed. The names of each Google and Asus are included, and that’s in keeping with the collaboration rumors we’ve heard about the very first Nexus tablet all along.
It is also almost undoubtedly going to function a 7-inch screen — the name Nexus 7 would be an odd selection for a ten-incher. That display will churn out images at a resolution of 768×1280, for a pixel density of about 215ppi. That won’t supply the ultra-crisp resolution of LG’s new five-inch 1080P display or the new iPad, but it will not be as power hungry, either.
The benchmarks also reveal that the processor is clocked at 1.3GHz — just like the Asus Transformer Prime. Another fascinating tidbit is that the Nexus 7 appears to be running Jelly Bean, but that it is pegged as Android four.1 and not version 5.. Jelly Bean develop numbers have also been spotted in access logs on some sites recently and not just right here in the Rightware benchmarks.
Also worth noting: the codename Grouper on the device fits with Google’s naming conventions for developer devices. The original G1 was referred to as Trout, and the Nexus A single was Mahi-mahi.
Despite the familiar fishy smell, it’s constantly crucial to keep in mind that it is possible these outcomes have been spoofed. Feasible, but it doesn’t appear probably. Google I/O isn’t far off now, though, and there’s each and every purpose to believe that we’ll see the Nexus 7 (or the 1st Nexus tablet, at least) make an appearance there. Then we’ll know for confident regardless of whether these results came from the genuine article.
