New Apple TV gets torn apart
The newly shipping Apple TV has just undergone it’s first autopsy from iFixit, revealing the device’s hidden specs and innards. It looks like the inside of Apple TV has a lot in common with other iOS devices, including the iPhone and iPad.
There’s 8 GB of NAND flash memory on board, 256 MB of RAM (the same as iPad), the same Apple A4 processor as the iPad and iPhone, and the same Broadcom chip for Bluetooth, FM, and WiFi b/g/n capabilities. And some solder pads near the side of the logic board look like a perfect fit for an Apple dock connector.

New Las Vegas hotel’s unintentional ‘death ray’ is a design flaw
As if the sun didn’t make things hot enough on its own in the Las Vegas desert, the newly opened Vdara hotel is giving it a helping hand. Turns out the hotel’s concave, all-glass facade is giving the sun’s rays a little more focus — enough to burn guests and melt plastic bags.
Now, the “death ray” hasn’t claimed any victims (yet!), though the staff of the hotel has termed it such because of the intense spots of heat its sending down into areas of the hotel’s pool. According to the UK’s Daily Mail, one guest was left with “severe burns:”
Chicago attorney Bill Pintas felt the power of the dangerous ray first hand last week.

But of course, a robot who rides a unicycle
Some robots seem very useful, and I cannot wait until they are more involved in our day-to-day lives. Other robots seem like idiotic wastes of time that serve absolutely no purpose. Guess which category Murata Girl, a dress-wearing, unicycle-riding robot out of Japan falls into?
Sure, Murata Girl is an impressive feat, able to balance on one wheel as she scoots across an S-shaped balance beam. And yes, she’s cute. But really, why not try to at least add a little useful functionality. But hey, maybe I’m just jaded. Is a robot on a unicycle impressive enough in itself to be worthy of existing?

3 Secret Apple TV Features Steve Jobs Hasn’t Told You About

The new Apple TV could be Steve Jobs’ best sleight-of-hand trick yet.
During his modest introduction of the device, Jobs called the Apple TV “one more hobby.” But a closer look at the code and the hardware powering the Apple TV reveals that there’s a lot more going on under the hood than the CEO shared.
Interestingly, Jobs didn’t mention that Apple TV runs iOS, the same operating system running on its flagship product, the iPhone, and some other big hits — the iPod Touch and iPad. And there’s more, too: The Apple TV’s software may already be jailbroken, and some hidden software should eventually allow you to share the Apple TV’s media with other iOS devices.
