Tron mouse leaves a trail like a Light Cycle

Movie-branded computer peripherals normally aren’t all that interesting. However, given Tron’s unique aesthetic, we’ll always take a peek. Tell us it acts like a Light Cycle, and all the sudden we’re all kinds of interested.

Razer, a name familiar to folks who enjoy playing PC games (I’ve got a Diamondback on my desk right now), is bringing out a Tron-branded mouse that boasts the familiar neon streaks it needs to carry such a name. What’s more, it’ll even leave a faint tail when you use it with Razer’s accompanying Tron mousepad, just like a Light Cycle.

The mouse and pad should be out soon for . You can check out the effect in the video below.

GoPro unveils new HD Hero 960 wearable camcorder

Posted in Camcorders,Cameras by Shane McGlaun on September 30th, 2010

hero960 2 GoPro unveils new HD Hero 960 wearable camcorderGoPro has been offering wearable and mountable camcorders for a while now. The latest offering from the company shares many of the same features of the older cameras at a much cheaper price. The new camera is called the HD Hero 960.

The camera supports 720p resolution, but not the 1080p resolution of the other more expensive cameras in the GoPro line. The 960 also gives up the expansion bus on the bottom of the higher-end cameras so it can’t be fitted with the extra battery or LCD back GoPro offers.

The 960 ships with a couple mount options including a head strap to let you wear the camera like a hat on your head or on a helmet. It also comes with a flat and curved surface adhesive mount and a waterproof case. The camera sells for 9 and is available now.

Concrete cloth is ‘a building in a bag’

Putting up a building takes a long time. You need to lay a foundation and then slowly stack your materials up. Not so with Concrete Cloth. Called “a building in a bag,” it can be turned into a solid structure in mere minutes.

Essentially, it’s like a tent that’s blown up with a compressor. But once it’s up, it can be sprayed with water to be solidified into a solid structure that’s waterproof and fireproof. It’s perfect for situations like disaster relief when time is of the essence. Just check out the below video to see it in action.

Apple’s cheap, puny Apple TV set-top box shares many of the same internals as the iPad, according to a teardown of the device.

The nimble engineers at iFixit cracked open the Apple TV earlier this afternoon and found the same type of Samsung flash chip that’s also inside the iPad, holding 8 GB of capacity. iFixit speculates this storage will be used for caching while streaming TV shows and movies.

The teardown also revealed that the Apple TV features the same A4 processor and amount of RAM (256MB) as the iPad.
