Turnstile uses human power to read your transit pass
With millions of people pushing their way through transit turnstiles every day, harnessing some of that energy to power the turnstile’s electronic reader seems like a real head slapper. View full post on DVICE
2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS, an AW Drivers Log:
MOTORSPORTS EDITOR MAC MORRISON: I like this Camaro, but I don’t love it, and that bums me out. I want it to be everything I hoped for, but it just doesn’t quite satisfy me or provide the exact type of driving thrill I look for. View full post on AutoWeek – Latest Car News Feed

QuickPay announces ROAMpay credit card swiper for Android
There have been many options for credit card payments on the iPhone, but it is not the only device on which people conduct business these days. QuickPay has now brought the ROAMpay to Android along with it’s app.

Along with allowing the ability to swipe credit cards to your device, it also seems to act as a virtual cash register as well, letting you log cash transactions (complete with receipts) as well as offering real-time authorization for major credit cards. The device is also available for iOS and Blackberry and is shipping now.
Below is a demo of the ROAMpay system working on an iPhone.

PHOTOS: LG Cookie Lite T300
Lite in hand, lite on pocket

We often get accused of having a smartphone fetish at Pocket-lint, so when we clapped eyes on the forthcoming LG Cookie Lite T300, we thought we’d redress the balance.?
Measuring 95.8 x 50.5 x 11.9mm and weighing just 77g, it features a 2.4-inch resistive touchscreen display around the front with a cool customised interface, although it is a little grainy as it is only a 320 x 240 pixel resolution.?
On the hardware front this is only a 2.5G handset, packing in GPRS and EDGE, and on the reverse side is a 1.3-megapixel camera. You’ll also get an FM radio and Bluetooth and a 3.5mm headphone jack on the top.

Slide By Slide – A SlideShare Experience On Your iPad
If you’re one of many that like to share your slides or presentations online, you may want to know there is a SlideShare app on the App Store waiting for you.
In case you’re not familiar with SlideShare, it’s an online slide hosting service where you can upload and share files in the following formats: PowerPoint, PDF, or OpenOffice presentations. Think of SlideShare as a YouTube, but for slideshows.
Now, there is a new native iPad app for SlideShare, and it’s called Slide by Slide. The native app was built on top of the SlideShare API. The app allows you to search and browse presentations from SlideShare.net, maintain a history of the slideshows you’ve seen, and will allow you to share your favorite slideshows with friends and colleagues via Facebook, Twitter, or email.
I like to use SlideShare to share presentations, and also to search for specific material around APIs, mobile devices, and gadgets in general. I like the Slide by Slide app because it allows me to quickly find out presentations about many of my favorite topics. The app does not have all the features I would like to see at this point, but the developers are already planning for several feature updates in an upcoming release.

Google Instant coming to mobile phones
Expected to arrive in the fall – that’s Winter in new money Google has revealed, during its San Franciscan press conference, that its new, super-speedy search functionality will also be coming to mobile devices “later this fall”. The handset version was briefly demoed, and we suspect, at Pocket-lint, that there’s some way to go before it will be complete. But, from what we saw, it certainly moved quickly, if not as quick as its computer browser peer. Few other details are known as present, but we can bet that the first roll out of mobile Google Instant will arrive for Android devices. Any takers? Life-sized T-800 will terminate your home’s decor
Nothing says “welcome to my home” like a T-800 pointing a gun at your guest’s face. That’s the idea behind this life-sized T-800 Endoskeleton, straight out of Terminator 2. Sure, it can’t walk around crushing human skulls under its metal feet, but it sure looks intimidating.

Infinite Candle
This project goes by the name “One Makes Another” and it takes one candle, a spool of string, and a little bit of metal. Bam! Infinite candle. Right? Sort of. Designer Yuya Kurata describes this project as a candle holder which makes another candle underneath as it melts, but one that isn’t quite complete. The concept is here, the candle isn’t quite ready for it. Because candles do not gutter as much as would be necessary, a slightly distorted candle is made. However! One Make Another does sort of work. It’s nearly there. All they’d need is a different candle consistency and a little bit of the ol’ modification of physics! Take a peek. See how the candle creates itself? Kinda sorta awesome. Now we just gotta figure out how to make sure ALL of the wax goes into the next candle and how to make that string regenerate as well. Possible? Maybe not. Is this project awesome anyway? Yes. All attempts at infinite energy deserve a high-five for effort.
