Do smartphone apps promise an end to business cards?
Business cards rock. No wait, they suck. I mean, they rock when you need a quick way to give someone your contact info, but they suck when you have a stack of cards you need to transcribe. So it was with great relief that I accepted an invitation from Dymo to try out a CardScan iPhone app. I really want to recycle that stack.

PadGadget Creative Corner – iPad Artist Debbie Ridpath Ohi
This installment of Creative Corner takes us North of the border to the beautiful city of Toronto. It’s there that you’ll find Debbie Ridpath Ohi busy writing novels, performing music, or creating illustrations on her iPad.
Ohi loves her iPad and enjoys being a digital artist saying “it’s far easier to carry around my iPad as a sketchbook rather than my laptop and Intuos Wacom Artpad.” Her app of choice is the hit iPad sketching app Autodesk Sketchbook Pro. Ohi tried all of the other popular drawing apps but prefers Autodesk Sketchbook Pro’s interface and layers support. Another feature that sold her on Sketchbook Pro is the the ability to select and manipulate different brushes by using quick finger swipe shortcuts.
Ohi is currently working on a series of illustrations for a picture book by author / actor Michael Ian Black, whose book is scheduled for publication by Simon & Schuster in 2012. When she’s not busy working on the book’s illustrations, you can find her creating comics which are featured on her website.
In her spare time, Ohi enjoys writing and performing music with her band. ”I just made plans to use my iPad for playing music with a small chamber music group next spring and will also be using it in concert when my own band performs in Columbus next month.” You can catch Ohi perform at the Ohio Valley Filk Fest this October, where her band is the guest of honor.
Although Apple’s iPad has only been on the market for six months, Ohi is already a self professed iPad addict. From illustrations to music, the iPad seems to be a perfect fit for a wide variety of her creative needs. “Anyone who says that the iPad is not for creative people is crazy. I use my iPad for drawing, planning and writing my books, songwriting, creative photography…the list goes on and on. I LOVE MY IPAD!”

Squares and Circles
You’re in your bathroom, and you’re looking all around. You see all sorts of blah. Especially if you’ve just moved in and that last people who lived there were from the 1980s. You know what I mean? Let’s get to work, let’s get it done gorgeously with Cube&Dot. It’s a matching ceramic, washbasin and bathroom cabinets. One giant system of excellent circles and squares and angle lines.
You’ve got the washbasin and some cabinets. You buy those standard (although they’re amazing and totally NOT standard in any way other than the most basic meaning of standard). Then you’ve got the modular ceramic tile system for the walls. There’s the sharp angles of the cubes you might maybe possibly have sort of seen before, (but not this fabulous before of course). Then there’s the dots. They’ll make your wall look like one gigantic news comic page. Fantastic!
The most amazing thing I can comment on since I can get my hands on it instantly is this, Cube&Dot online interactive tool where you can design your own wall with the Cube&Dot ceramic mosaic tile collection.
Cubes or dots!

Over at SlashGear the Fascinate has been put through its paces in a full review , and shapes up rather nicely. T-Mobile to carry Samsung Galaxy Tab?
Vodafone not likely to be exclusive vendor

Although Vodafone is the launch partner for the Samsung Galaxy Tab in the UK, it is highly unlikely that it will have much of a window of exclusivity. Not only has Samsung stated that it is in talks with multiple operators in the country (and worldwide), but Pocket-lint spied the tablet on show on the T-Mobile stand at IFA, Berlin.
Samsung is confident that many vendors will be stocking the Galaxy Tab, so much so that it is willing to consider different colour schemes (for the rear plate) for different network providers: “Depending on the operator, colour can be changed – it is their choice,” says WP Hong, executive vice president and head of Product Planning Team, Mobile HQ. Current choices are “white or black”.
He also claims that the talks with carriers have actually already been completed: “From America and the European carriers, all the way to China, we have already agreed deals,” says Hong.
