Samantha Swift and the Fountains of Fate for iPad – App Review
We love hidden object games at our house and my kids and I will sit together for hours using the iPad to look for objects, complete puzzles and ultimately solve any mystery thrown our way. We recently did a review of Midnight Mysteries: Salem Witch Trials from MumboJumbo and really liked it. Now we’ve got our hands on their latest hidden object adventure game, Samantha Swift and the Fountains of Fate , and are ready to see how it stacks up. Archaeologist and adventurer Samantha Swift sets out on a quest to follow the trail of Cortez and before long realizes she possesses a golden statuette that just might lead her to the Fountain of Youth. Along with your help, and the help of Dr. Butler and technology-whiz Adam, Samantha circles the globe in search of clues and artifacts to help her unlock the mystery and discover the mythical fountain. Together you’ll travel the swamps of the Florida Keys, the Great Wall of China and destinations in between looking for hidden objects, collecting tools and discovering items for the Museum of Secrets Lost in NYC. Keep your eyes open! M’Alice and Markus Payne will try to outsmart Samantha and steal the glory for themselves every step of the way. We started playing Samantha Swift and the Fountains of Fate and it didn’t take long for us to get hooked. We really liked the story and the puzzles were challenging. Hours passed as we looked around and unlocked different levels in search of our ultimate goal, The Fountain of Youth. Users are able to gather collectible Swift Birds to unlock Unlimited Hidden Object Mode and earn achievements for skillful play. Samantha Swift and the Fountains of Fate includes six adventures of hidden objects and brain-teasing puzzles. Purchase additional in-app items from $0.99 to $9.99 or play as it is. Vidyo Submits Video Conferencing App for iPad and iPhone
Over the last few months many companies have opened their doors to the tablet market. We’ve seen how Apple’s iPad has made inroads into the enterprise market. Companies like Wells Fargo , Daimler AG’s Mercedes Benz , SAP AG and several others have approved the iPad as a working tool within their premises. We expected it would be a matter of time before some creative companies eventually would come out with additional solutions for the enterprise. That’s exactly what Vidyo is doing. Vidyo is betting big by bringing their video conferencing technology to mobile devices like your iPad and iPhone. Vidyo is a company that specializes in high-quality video conferencing technology, and they have decided their technology is ready for the enterprise and mobile devices. Vidyo is not a “newbie” in this market segment. In case you didn’t know, they already license their technology to large corporations like Intel, HP, Hitachi to name a few. One persistent problem in the market today is the device fragmentation. There are many consumers and employees using different devices to communicate with each other. According to Vidyo, they’re planning to address this same issue by developing a cross-platform solution that allows users to access and connect with Vidyo from any device such as the iPhone, iPad, Android or computers. Vidyo has submitted an iPad and iPhone app to the App Store for approval. The app has been designed to allow Vidyo customers to access the video conferencing product from their iOS devices. Watch the video below for a preview. Keep in mind that if you try to use this app from an iPad you can’t turn on video on your own since the current version of the iPad platform does not have a camera. Of course, iPhone 4 users do have a front-facing camera and will be able to initiate a video conference call. It seems that over the next few months we will continue to see the enterprise becoming more reliant on mobile devices for connectivity, and companies like Vidyo are getting ready to claim a piece of that market. 1 Million Ping Users in First 2 Days

Apple announced that Ping, their social network for music, got off to a rocket start by logging over 1 million users within the first 48 hours.
“One-third of the people who have downloaded iTunes 10 have joined Ping,“ said Eddy Cue, Apple’s vice president of Internet Services. “As many more people download iTunes 10 in the coming weeks, we expect the Ping community to continue growing.“
Three million iTunes 10 downloads and one million Ping users within the first two days is certainly not a bad start for the new service but Ping has also received some early criticism. Apple had to contend with complaints from users about SPAM comments being posted on profile pages, as well as deactivate many fraudulent accounts.
Apple also received complaints regarding the lack of integration with Facebook, making the process of finding friends more difficult. In an interview with All Things Digital’s Kara Swisher, Steve Jobs indicated that there were indeed discussions between Apple and Facebook about using the Facebook API to integrate with Ping. Jobs said the feature was pulled at the last minute because Facebook had ”onerous terms that we could not agree to.”
Ping looks to be a promising feature for music fans but Apple still has some more work to do before this service becomes the go-to social networking site for music lovers.
