My Pet Espresso Maker

 My Pet Espresso Maker

It’s the most helpful thing on four legs in your whole house! The puppy dog comes in a close second, losing only because the rolled-up paper you’ve been given is covered in slobber. The project we’re talking about right here goes by the name “Espresso on Four Legs.” And that’s just what it is, a maker up on all fours. It’s a cylinder that appears to float horizontally above your coffee cup. One side has a door for water, the other side has a door for a coffee capsule. On top, a button for short or long.

Designer Dror Goldblum likes the coffee to be hot. Designer Dror Goldblum likes the coffee to be made above the cup. Designer Dror Goldblum has hit the nail on the head.

Firemint Announces Integration with Apple’s Game Center

firemint Firemint Announces Integration with Apple’s Game CenterAt today’s Apple media event, game developer Epic Games debuted its upcoming title for Apple iOS devices called Project Sword. The purpose of having that game on stage was to showcase the maturity level that Apple devices have gained over the last couple of years, and to announce Apple’s Game Center.

Game Center is a new feature that will be available as a downloadable app for the iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch. Game Center will function as an API (application programming interface) for Apple’s devices and its numerous games, and it will allow easier access to online multi-player games and will give you the ability to see what games your friends are playing and their results.

As expected, many of the big game companies are already announcing their games will support Apple’s Game Center. Firemint, a well known game developer, contacted us to let us know that they will be incorporating Game Center features into their hit games Flight Control and Real Racing via their Cloudcell platform. The initial supported devices will be the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, and iPod Touch 3rd and 4th generation, but will also try to support (whenever possible) similar functionality on older devices. We expect Firemint to support the iPad once the Game Center features get released on iOS 4.2 in November timeframe.

Firemint plans to have Real Racing and Flight Control features such as achievements and leaderboards available in the game itself, on the Cloudcell web site (an online service for leaderboards), or via Apple’s Game Center. Firemint expects to have Game Center features available for their games (as free updates) as soon as Game Center is released.

Have you ever had a set of those gigantic box speakers, the kind your mom or dad had hooked up to their turntable or radio tapedeck, the ones that had heads as big as yours? Did you ever decide that because you totally hated them, you’d get them good by turning the speakers downward, blasting the floor with sound? If you have, you know you get quite a unique sound depending on the materials and density of the surface under your feet. Designer Jm.Jo (Jeongmin Jo) found this out too, and thusly created and brought forth the UFO bluetooth speaker. This little gadget is both a speaker and an MP3 player. It’s what Jm.Jo calls a “vibration speaker”, working with the material of the floor to bring forth a wild new quality. Magnets are installed along the rim so that it can be held in place on metal.
