Pressure Sensitive Drawing on the iPad

Ten One Design , a company focused on building styluses for iOS-based devices, recently released a nice demo of their pressure calculation library for the iPad. Since the iPad is not able to measure how much pressure the user applies on its screen, Ten One Design tracks the variation of the size of the area of contact between their Pogo stylus and the iPad to calculate pressure differences, and the result is more than convincing. The company pledged to make the library available free of charge to the developers willing to incorporate the technology into their apps, in hope to popularize the technology – and sell more styluses in the process. Note that Apple has not approved the use of such a library just yet, and is still reviewing its possible incorporation into the iOS framework. iPad Web Usage Blasts Past Android

Web browsing on the iPad is an absolute pleasure.  You have a great browser tied with great hardware to give you the perfect web experience.  We’re not the only one enjoying our iPad web browsing experience, according to Net Marketshare the iPad has rocketed past both Andorid and iPod Touch. This rapid growth is particularly impressive considering the iPad has only been on the market for three months versus the two plus years that Android and iPod Touch devices have been available.  Net Marketshare finds “this is an indication that the iPad is used much more frequently per user for browsing.” We’ve seen similar browsing patterns here at PadGadget. Pageviews from our iPad readers have tripled  since April and now make up over 20% of our vistors.  These numbers parallel the explosive iPad sales growth and show that web browsing is a favorite pastime for iPad owners. Marble Mixer for iPad – First Look

Marble Mixer for iPad is a game the whole family can enjoy.  This modern version of marbles lets players test their luck and skill with three different style games:  Space Mania, Table Tactics and Monster Picnic.  Each game variation requires players to flick marbles onto a spinning center target.  Players launch marbles from their corner of the screen to score points and you can have up to 4 players competing at the same time.  The more marbles you sink into the hole the better in Monster Picnic.  Don’t get too carried away sinking marbles though! Space Mania and Table Tactics both give points based on the marble’s stopping position, similar to shuffle board or curling. The closer your marble gets to the hole without falling in, the higher the points. Additional features include: 1 – 4 players Simple controls Cool & collected or fast & frenzied game play Realistic physics High quality graphics Whether you’re a kid or a kid at heart, you’ll have fun competing against friends and family with Marble Mixer .  It’s available in the App Store for $1.99 so check it out this weekend for your 4th of July get together. Saga of the iPhone 4 antenna (one that has still not ended)

WWDC 18 1 610x407 300x200 Saga of the iPhone 4 antenna (one that has still not ended)Okay, we all know about the iPhone 4, and I’m sure we all know about the problems it is having with its antenna. If you haven’t heard, the reception in the iPhone will be greatly reduced (sometimes cut off) if the user holds it in a certain way.

This has caused quite an uproar amongst the iPhone 4 community, who have began to call this problem “the death grip”. Especially by those who waited in line on launch day only to find that the newest version of the popular smartphone was not at peak efficiency.

It has now been determined by Apple that the problem is some sort of internal problem with the formula used to calculate the bars of signal strength. They intend to fix it “in a few weeks”, and are offering a money-back guarantee to those who return their iPhone 4 undamaged within 30 days of purchase.

You can read the full letter from Apple explaining this problem after the jump.
