Nokia’s Ovi Maps Updated for Location-Aware Hotel Booking
Do you like to travel? Are you fond of traveling to places you’ve never been to? If you’ve done it a few times, then you have probably run into a couple hotel-related situations throughout your travels. Whether you’ve been unable to find them, or book them once you did find them, sometimes you just wish you had an easier way to get it all done from one spot. Well, now you do, if you’ve got a Nokia device that can run Ovi Maps.

The new feature, which was implemented today thanks to an update to Maps. It’s a location-aware booking feature, which gives users the ability to search for hotels around them, and if the hotel allows it, to book a room right then and there. Thanks to Expedia, Nokia can bring this hotel-room-booking feature to Ovi Maps in the United States and United Kingdom. (The feature is already supported in Germany and Finland.)
Unfortunately, you’ll have to have one of the following devices to be running Ovi Maps v3.04, so pay close attention: Nokia E72, Nokia E55, Nokia E52, Nokia N97 mini Gold Edition, Nokia N97 mini, Nokia N97, Nokia N86 8MP, Nokia X6 32GB, Nokia X6 16GB, Nokia C5, Nokia 6730 classic, Nokia 6720 classic, Nokia 6710 Navigator, Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition, Nokia 5235 Comes With Music and Nokia 5230. We wouldn’t want you to head out without this feature, just because your device doesn’t support it.

Remember the UAW?
Remember the UAW? As with dial phones, phonograph records and the Beatles, those under 40 who aren’t deeply entrenched in the automotive industry may find themselves staring blankly at those three letters.
There was a time when everyone in America knew the United Auto Workers union, all the way up to the President of the United States – and no matter which party was in power. Born of the fractious sit-down strikes that brought General Motors to its knees more than seven decades ago, the UAW could make or break politicians – and auto companies. It transformed poorly paid factory workers into affluent middle-class Americans. And it helped shepherd some of the most progressive social measures of the post-War period into law.
But these days, much of that must be said in past tense. After losing 76,000 members last year, the UAW’s roles now stand at barely 355,000 – a shadow of the union’s 1979 peak of 1.5 million members. Many of the gains of the past are gone; in 2007, negotiators made some of the biggest concessions ever to help Detroit’s Big Three regain some of their competitiveness. Even more givebacks followed last year in order to help GM and Chrysler win the multi-billion-dollar federal bailouts that kept each company afloat.

OnLive Games Demoed on iPad
Ready to start playing online games with your iPad? Well, maybe not yet. But, the possibilities for it continue to evolve and gaming companies continue to explore it.
This is what OnLive recently demonstrated at E3 Expo. In case you’re not familiar with OnLive, it is a service that allows you to stream video games to your computer, mobile devices and TV using a set-top box or a browser plugin.
OnLive spent seven years in stealth development before officially unveiling their capabilities in March 2009. Their innovation may reshape the way we think about and use digital media.
Think of it for a second. All the key ingredients are starting to infiltrate our lives. The shift to cloud computing is starting to displace the limitations and complexity of local computing. You’re already consuming lots of content over your broadband connectivity, which has caused your Internet provider to bring fast bandwidth to your home. Finally, we are witnessing a ton of innovation and creativity within the video game and device markets.
Maybe, in a not so distant future, you will be able to play online games with your iPad. The following is a video that TouchArcade managed to record showing an iPad running OnLive games at E3.

Motorola Adds A Few Phones To Their 2.1 Update List
If you’re wondering when your Motorola Android device will receive the update to 2.1, the roadmap has just been updated. Although by the time most of these receive 2.1, 2.2 will be on a few devices but it’s still good to know 2.1 is on the way. This time around a few more handsets has made the list. There are a few new Backflips and Quenches (Cliq XT) added to the list. Most of these are still “under evaluation” but at least they’re on the list. Hopefully Motorola decides to update them to 2.2 instead but that may be wishful thinking. By Q3, every handset on the list should be running 2.1, the next update to chart should be a little more informative. [ via androidcentral] ) View full post on Android Community
Android 2.1 now on half of all Android devices
The latest numbers from Google says that Android 2.1 is now on 50% of phones. These figures are obtained by the number of times a certain device visits the Android Market. Oddly enough, there is no mention of android 2.2 on the chart. It’s possible that they are being represented in the sum of 2.1 handsets.

Previously, Android 2.1 only held 45% of these phones. With more and more handsets being updated to 2.1 these figures will begin to look more unified. If you notice from the chart, Android 1.5 and 1.6 basically makes up the rest of the chart. With more updates being pushed out within the next 2 months, 2.1 should overtake roughly 75% of this chart.
The next chart should be very interesting. When it does come out, Android 2.2 should be officially released on the Nexus One and there will be a few phones that are released with Froyo installed. 2.2 might take a huge chunk out this chart if most Sense UI devices are updated like we’ve been hearing in a few rumors.

2011 Horex defines revolution as a supercharged VR6 in a retro-standard package
Filed under: Concept Cars , Performance , Europe , Marketing/Advertising , Motorcycle , Luxury 2011 Horex is “Das Neue Motorrad” - Click above for high-res image gallery Recently, we reported the scheduled release of an all-new motorcycle hailing from Germany , known to us only as Das Neue Motorrad, the news came with much anticipation, the excitement being twofold. First, the prospect of finally seeing a new motorcycle from the land of Bavaria, a place with such a rich two-wheeled history but very few modern offerings, and second the secrecy leading up to the release, coupled with the companies claims to offer “revolutionary designs” and an engine concept “currently seen nowhere in the industry” which peaked the interest of moto-junkies around the globe. As the smoke has cleared and rumors ceased, lifting of the veil has exposed Horex as the new motorcycle brand from Germany. So just how do they define revolution? That would be with a supercharged 15-degree monoblock V6, of course. Horex is said to have patented the VR6 configuration for two-wheeled vehicles. The compact design allows for fitment of six rounds in a space traditionally fit with four. For additional ‘whee-factor,’ a radial supercharger feeds the 1200cc beast, producing a tractable delivery of the claimed output of 198hp and 110 lb-ft of torque, which is routed to the tarmac via belt drive. The chassis and suspension wrapping that powerplant compete a package that not only looks legit, but should also live up to performance expectations. 50mm forks sort out the bumps and the attached dual-radial-mounted brakes should have no trouble halting the Horex from substantial velocities. From the looks of things, the frame and swing-arm components appear to exhibit top-notch fit and finish. The styling is definitely of a classic nature, minus the ram-air type intake ports on the front of the fuel tank. The price of admission will be €20,000 ($24,600 USD), and that’s only if you are in Germany, Austria or Switzerland, but at least it probably includes taxes. We’ll have to wait and see what exchange rates are when the Horex finally makes it to the rest of Europe and the U.S. The irony in all of this is that Horex is not new at all - it’s a reincarnation of the classic brand founded in 1923 which produced motorcycles up until Daimler-Benz purchased the company and ceased bike production in 1960. So make that Germany’s newest-old motorcycle company, for the record. Revolutionary?…well, probably not, we just can’t wait to hear the exhaust note! Samsung Tab P1000 details leak: fixed battery, Bluetooth for voice calls
Samsung’s Galaxy Tab P1000 – spotted on video yesterday – has apparently been detailed in a further leak, with a new source claiming that it’s around as thin as an iPhone, does indeed have full voice call functionality, but lacks an integrated earpiece. Engadget were contacted by an anonymous tipster who claimed to have hands-on experience with the Tab P1000; they reckon it’s “sturdy and well-built” and will require Bluetooth headsets for voice calls. Meanwhile it’s also said to have GPS, Android 2.2 – with no modifications in the prototype the source used – and a a 3.2 megapixel camera, along with a front-facing camera for video calls. There’s obviously Bluetooth and WiFi, together with 3G, and the ability to tether via WiFi or USB; the battery, meanwhile, is non-user accessible.
