HTC EVO 4G Sold-Out Everywhere?

If you haven’t been lucky enough to get your hands on the EVO 4G you may have missed your opportunity. The HTC EVO 4G is now sold out in almost every location. After reports of record sales on this handset, this was imminent. There could be a long wait for more shipments to arrive. After smashing records on the day of its release, this may be the only thing that can slow the first 4G phone down. Given HTC’s recent struggles with keeping up with demand, it could be a month before more EVO’s are available for sale. The Desire is still suffering from shortages and the Incredible’s expected shipment date keeps getting pushed back. If you know where we can purchase the EVO now, please share that information with the rest of the community. The EVO has been sold out at my local Radio Shack and Best Buy since last night. Are there any available in your area? [ via engadget] ) View full post on Android Community

nurburgring Video: 24 Hours of Nürburgring in 19,500 glorious HD frames

Tim Hahne’s video of the 2010 24 Hours of Nürburgring – Click above to watch video after the jump

Video guru Tim Hahne descended on this year’s 24 Hours of Nürburgring with nothing but his trusty Canon 5d Mk II and a handful of lenses. The guy was there through the thick and the thin of the race – from the first drop of the green flag to the final fall of the checkers – and managed to nab a heady 19,500 frames of racing action for the world’s enjoyment. It’s all in delicious HD, dripping with the kind of glory we’re unaccustomed to in motorsports videography.

We highly suggest you take the time (and bandwidth) to sit down and enjoy the high-def goodness for yourself. Between the awesome shots of the cars in action and the chaotic in-pit clips, the whole thing is not to be missed. Hit the jump to enjoy it for yourself.

Good news for all you myTouch 3G owners. You’re getting Android 2.2!!! This has recently been confirmed by T-Mobile that Froyo will be coming soon. There is currently no word on if the G1 will receive this update as well.

android22mytouch3g 540x314 myTouch 3G Series, Getting Froyo (Android 2.2)

Judging from the picture above I would say that every version of the myTouch 3G is getting some Froyo love. So whether you have a version 1.2, Fender or the original, you can expect to get the update to 2.2 soon. This update not only includes all the goodies that Froyo has to offer, there will be a few extra incentives. tracker3 PadGadget iPad Apps Tracker – Take 3Many of you use our iPad Apps Tracker to keep track of the latest iPad apps trends at the App Store, to find new apps for your iPad, or simply to have a look at what kind of apps the iPad has to offer.

Based on the suggestions we received, we have been quietly working on the tracker over the last couple days, and we just launched a new, more user-friendly version.

A few highlights:
- We increased the number of apps the tracker displays on a single page (from 100 to 200)
- We added extra categories in order to help you refine your searches, such as Games, Travel, Education, News, Utilities…
- The tracker no longer tracks iPhone/iPod apps, the tracker is now 100% dedicated to the iPad

Roswell Fighter HD for iPad – First Look

Remember the old school, arcade-style top-down shooters? Fan of Capcom’s 194x series? If yes, Roswell Fighter HD is a game you need to try out. The goal is simple: use your plane to destroy everything that moves on your screen, while trying to dodge bullets, and collect power-ups. Roswell Fighter HD features plenty of traditional upgrades, such as enhanced weapons, and also features a variety of super power ups, such as bombs, lasers and backup planes, to get you out of tough spots. The gameplay and graphics do not revolutionize the genre, but the game looks nice and is fun to play. If you happen to be a top-down shooters guru, the game will likely feel a bit short, but Roswell Fighter HD only costs $1.99, a price point that makes this quality shooter quite attractive. MotionX GPS Drive HD for iPad Just Released

We previously tried to use MotionX’s app MotionX GPS while on the road , and quickly came to the conclusion that the app was not suited for turn-by-turn navigation – the app is really geared toward hikers and campers. The folks at MotionX have finally released a turn-by-turn version of their app, called MotionX GPS Drive HD , and the app is already a favorite here at PadGadget, especially for only $2.99. The app uses traditional 2D maps provided by NAVTEQ, and morphs them into pseudo-3D maps, to help you find your way around. Quick, simple, and very easy to use, the app instantly turns your iPad into a full-fledged GPS navigation system. MotionX GPS Drive HD also provides a very well designed real-time routing system, with live voice guidance. The feature is free for 30 days, and renewal is currently set at $2.99, via an in-app purchase. MotionX also offers a yearly option for $24.99. Unless you are on the road everyday, simply renew the live guidance feature when you really need it – and compared to most GPS navigation systems out there, MotionX GPS Drive HD ’s fee is a very small price to pay to have access to the latest and greatest maps available. If you plan to go on vacation anytime soon, and happen to get lost simply because you do not have this app, only blame yourself, as MotionX GPS Drive HD is hands down one of the most affordable and most user-friendly GPS app for the iPad! Steve Jobs’ WWDC Keynote Now Available

If you couldn’t make it for the unveiling of iPhone 4 at WWDC yesterday,  don’t worry Apple has you covered. Apple just posted the full WWDC keynote video and you can watch all the action over on Apple’s event site. Steve Jobs kicked off yesterday’s keynote by giving the audience an update on iPad, iTunes and the Apple App Store.  The main portion of Jobs’ keynote was unveiling the new iPhone 4 running iOS 4.  The iPhone has several new features such High Density Retina Display, HD video recording, iMovie for iPhone and FaceTime which is Apple’s new video calling capability. With iOS, the new name for the iPhone OS based operating system,  we will see several of these capabilities become available for the iPad later this fall.   Several of the hardware improvements such as higher density displays using Apple’s new Retina Display technology and dual cameras for video calling will presumably be features we see added to the next generation of iPads. Pulse News Reader Booted From App Store

A week ago, Pulse News Reader was enjoying the limelight by being the top paid app in the iPad App Store. Yesterday, during WWDC’s keynote, Steve Jobs mentioned the app and its developers as one of the most promising stories surrounding the iPad. However, today the app is no longer part of the App Store, after Apple received a written notice from the New York Times (NYT) stating the app infringes The New York Times Company’s rights. In case you are not familiar with Pulse, we recently wrote an app review for it. Pulse is a visual news aggregator that takes in up to 20 news sources that you follow, and creates a visual mosaic of your news. The app gained a lot of popularity and it went from “idea” to a top-iPad digital news app in just five weeks. An interesting tidbit is that recently the New York Times wrote about Pulse in a blog post. At the time, the Times titled their blog post “The iPad Pulse Reader Scales the Charts”. In the post they talked about how stylish and easy-to-use the app was. Are you still confused? Let’s clarify this a bit more. We found a copy of the letter ( via All Things Digital ) sent to the Apple App Store by the New York Times Company. In the letter the New York Times company explains their concern with the infringing Pulse app. The issue has to do with the use of unlicensed content. In other words, Pulse aggregates publicly available RSS feeds, but the way those feeds and images get preloaded on the app is considered as a “commercial use” of those feeds, and therefore a violation of the New York Times and Boston Globe’s Terms of Use. The Pulse app was quickly approved into the App Store, and has been downloaded about 35,000 times at a $4 price tag. Those are real good revenue numbers for a small app designed by two Stanford graduate students. One of the developers, Akshay Kothari, has mentioned they plan to contact Apple to understand the issue and take steps to remove Times material out of the feeds. This situation could be a big setback for all paid RSS readers in the App Store. It will be very interesting to see how Apple and media companies handle this situation going forward. We hope everything gets resolved quickly.
