Need Your “Strong Bad Email” Fix? Get Cloud Browse!
The iPad cannot play Flash videos or run Java applications, and it is not going to change anytime soon. So if like me you cannot live without checking out the latest “Strong Bad Email” and “Teen Girl Squad” episodes, you have no choice but to use a Mac or a PC. That was until I discovered Cloud Browse , a little browser compatible with the iPad, that allows you to remotely browse the web. In a nutshell, Cloud Browse does not use a direct connection to the internet, the app actually uses a cloud-based cluster of servers running Firefox that browses the web on your behalf, and sends the result back to your iPad. Cloud Browse is free, at least for now, simply use a blank email/password to login as an anonymous user. It is not meant to replace Safari, but is a great add-on when you need to have access to a specific Flash animation or Java app. The app works great on WiFi, but can be a bit choppy over 3G. Air Display for iPad Available Now!
Ever wish you had an extra display for your Mac? Well, there is an app for that.
Air Display, developed by Avatron Software, is now available on the App Store. It is a new utility app that will allow you to use your iPad as a second monitor for your Mac. The app will transmit video data from your Mac over to your iPad via Wi-Fi.
Avatron already had a nice iPad app with Air Sharing HD. Now they have released a new and useful app that could change the way you use your iPad and Mac together.
Air Display’s concept can be very useful. You probably run into multi-tasking situations all the time. For example, the need to work on a presentation while checking reference documents or even email. A simple solution for this can be to run Air Display on your iPad, then move the Mail window to your iPad, while you continue to work on your Mac.
There are other options for you in the App Store like iDisplay. However, the current reviews for iDisplay are not that good.
Mercedes-Benz Brings iPad to the Showroom
The next time you lease or buy a Mercedes, there’s a good chance your sales person will do the paperwork on a shinny new iPad. Mercedes-Benz Financial, the finance arm of German luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz, announced they are embracing the iPad and making it an integral part of their dealer point-of-sales system. Mercedes-Benz Financial is the first car company to give dealers access to their back-office sales system called MB Advantage.
The integration of the iPad will allow sales people to quickly get information on specific car models along with any associated marketing programs. According to Mercedes, the system will also speed the sales process by allowing dealers to quickly process a customer’s credit application and increase both speed and efficiency when a customer returns their leased vehicle.
“We see the iPad providing wireless mobility, information and flexibility on the showroom floor,” said Andreas Hinrichs, Vice President of Marketing for Mercedes-Benz Financial. “The iPad will provide a competitive advantage to our dealers by increasing their service levels through a more flexible financing process.”
Mercedes-Benz Financial will initially distribute iPads to 40 selected US dealers so they can test the system over the summer. Once the test is completed and the results evaluated, Mercedes-Benz will then potentially launch the system to all Mercedes-Benx dealers by the end of the year.

Wired Magazine for iPad Available Now!
Condé Nast has finally delivered its Wired magazine application for the iPad. Several weeks ago Wired was still insisting that its magazine app for tablets would still reach the iPad despite being built using Adobe’s Flash-to-iPhone tool . At that time, publisher Condé Nast said, they were working with Adobe to develop the reader, but was adamant that it would still pass Apple’s iPhone 4.0 guidelines. Many of us were still speculating, whether Wired had actually discovered a workaround for Apple’s guidelines, or was simply hoping that it will be given an exception. Well, it seems that Wired had to rebuild the Wired app from the ground up using Objective C, and now it is available to Wired fans on the App Store . We have not tried the app yet, but it seems it comes with lots of bells and whistles. If you are a Wired fan and like the traditional paper magazine experience, you will probably like the digital magazine experience on your iPad. It will enlighten you with great visual tools, images and short films. All of the nice features come at a premium price. Each issue will cost you $5, which can add up quickly. I hope Wired reduces their price. The following is a quick video of Wired’s iPad app . 30 Percent of Prospective Netbook buyers Get iPad Instead
30% of prospective netbook buyers opted for an iPad instead, according to a recent survey by Retrevo . Retrevo, an electronics shopping and review site, commissioned the survey of 1,000 people in the United States and asked them several questions regarding their plans for purchasing a netbook or iPad. It seems that the iPad is putting a dent in potential netbook sales. Out of those surveyed, 30% said that after the iPad was announced they held off their purchase of a netbook and instead bought an iPad. Reveo’s Pulse study went on to report that 78% of respondents said they are leaning towards purchasing an iPad versus only 22% for a netbook. So is the iPad killing the netbook? Based on the data, it’s clear that the iPad will impact netbook sales here in the US, but netbook sales should remain strong in other parts of the world where the iPad is currently not available. We also think that netbook sales will remain strong in developing countries where a netbook might be the main computing platform for a family versus an iPad which is more of a complementary device to your current PC or Mac.
