Shell Digital Scales
A standard kitchen scale is something that most of us wouldn’t associate with when we first set eyes on the Shell Digital Scales, since this is just about the coolest thing you can get mom this Mother’s Day. It offers both style and functionality, turning into a cool pod when not in use. Of course, you can easily open it up to reveal a broad, easy-pour scoop when required. It comes with multiple weighing units just in case you haven’t exactly moved on with the metric system. You can choose from gray or white colors for £44.99 each.

HICE Hydrogen-powered vehicle made by high-schoolers
For those that are interested in green vehicles are probably looking to electric or even hydrogen-powered cars.
The hydrogen-powered car that you see in this picture was, believe it or not, designed by a group of high-school students. They are from the Los Altos Academy of Engineering in California, and they have been working on cars like this for a while, in conjunction with companies like Toyota and Boeing.
This particular vehicle, known as the HICE (Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engine) vehicle was nearly completed back in February. It is powered by a four-stroke Honda engine, and has three wheels.
I’m pretty amazed that a group of high-school kids were able to build the HICE. Granted, it lacks a little bit on the interior room, but it is better than what I would have done in high school. I probably couldn’t have done the flame-job on the sides.
Not only do I think its terrific for these kids to do something constructive, but it looks like they’re on one of those “save the Earth” crusades. That’s good, because I think I only heard of Earth Day during my Senior year, which was in 1990.
BenQ E1260 HDR camera
Here’s a little point-and-shoot from our friends at BenQ: the E1260 HDR.
I can see why that its slogan is “Make Every Shot Amazing”, as it probably could. This camera has 12 Megapixels, and with a 28 mm 4x optical wide angle zoom lens. It also has a 2.7 inch LCD display, and is capable of shooting 720p video.
The E1260 HDR has image enhancement technology that is “designed to bring out the finest details in the darkest and brightest part of an image”. This helps to make pictures with the highest contrast lighting conditions, which is good for any lighting challenge.
The lens is a wide-angle that enables panoramic shots of scenic landscapes or bustling cityscapes, friends and family, and close-ups.
It has many other bells and whistles, such as “Auto Face Tracking; Blink Detector; Self/Love Portrait; Beauty Enhancer; Smile Catch; Smart Focus; File Management; Auto Rotation; 3 Second Prerecording and Super Shake-Free (S.S.F.)”. It also has twelve advanced smart scene modes, as well as a user-friendly interface with explanatory text matching clear icons.
The BenQ E1260 is available in colors of “Metallic Gun-Metal Gray” and “Metallic Blue”. I don’t have a price as yet, but its release date is sometime next month.
No Wrong Notes Strumstick
Hitting the right notes all the time does not come naturally for most folks, which is why the No Wrong Notes Strumstick comes in handy for beginners who want to give this three-stringed instrument a go. You will not need any kind of musical training beforehand to handle this 29″ long instrument which is more or less similar to a ‘dulcitar,’ where it relies on a special diatonic fretting of an Appalachian dulcimer. The strings have been specially tuned in a drone relationship in such a manner where there are no wrong notes, letting one play a major scale by simply fretting just one string and strumming like a guitar. It comes with a pitch range of 2 1/2 octaves, featuring a sound that might be mistaken to a banjo and mandolin to the unseen eye. Nice to know this $199.95 purchase comes with instructional DVD to guide you right out of the box in a step-by-step manner alongside two- and three-string melodies as well as folk classics.

iPad Purchase Limits Confirmed
We recently covered Protocol Snow’s story, a student who experienced first hand Apple’s recent updates to the iPad purchase policies, when he was told he was “banned for life” from buying any additional iPad, after buying 5 in about 2 weeks.
We wanted to verify whether these claims were true or not, so we tried to buy several iPads 3G at the same time yesterday. The result? We were simply told that the limit was 2 per person, period. It is now clear that Apple is enforcing these purchase guidelines nationwide.
Apple requires you to buy your iPads via a debit or credit card, no cash allowed, so they can track your purchase history, in case you are thinking about coming back several times in order to get more than 2. Also note that the same restrictions now seem to apply to businesses as well, at least for now.
If you really need more than 2 (for legitimate reasons), you can always use more than one debit/credit card, as long as you do not buy more than 2 per card.
